We Help Values-Driven Organizations Do Business in Cuba

Cuba Strategy Group helps companies in the U.S. launch successful, sustainable partnerships with counterparts in Cuba. Our integrated approach builds on nearly two decades of experience in U.S.–Cuba relations, and strong relationships with important figures inside and outside Cuba’s government. With deep familiarity and respect for Cuba’s social, political, and economic culture, we prepare U.S. businesses to thrive in Cuba’s rapidly changing landscape.

At this extraordinary time of normalizing relations, we believe that developing and deepening commercial bonds between the United States and Cuba is good for our economy and the U.S. national interest, and offers the best opportunity for Cubans to write the next chapter of their country’s future.

SARAH STEPHENS, FOUNDER

Sarah Stephens is an expert on Cuba and U.S.-Cuba relations.

As founder and Executive Director of the Center for Democracy in the Americas, Sarah has spent over 15 years promoting a U.S. policy toward Cuba based on engagement and recognition of Cuba’s sovereignty. Sarah’s unparalleled relationships in Cuba and Washington inform her work advising companies on how to create successful partnerships in Cuba consistent with U.S. policy and law.

Sarah has led trips to Cuba for over 300 public officials, business executives, philanthropists, artists, and cultural figures since 2001. More than 100 Members of the House and Senate and their staffs have joined her highly-regarded fact-finding missions to the island. Year after year, Sarah has built an increasingly influential and diverse network of contacts in key government ministries and state-owned enterprises, Cuban universities and research institutions, in Cuba’s growing business sector, foreign embassies, and more.

Sarah’s travel missions and policy work have informed an extensive body of research and writing. She has published reports and op-ed columns on Cuba’s economy, the role of women, its energy policy, and U.S.-Cuba collaboration. Since 2006, her nonprofit has published a weekly online briefing read by key stakeholders in the U.S. and Cuba, which analyzes U.S. policy and developments in Cuba pertinent to business and diplomatic normalization.

A long-time advocate for normalized relations, Sarah was pleased to have had the opportunity to join Secretary of State Kerry and many others as the U.S. flag was raised over our embassy in Cuba, and to attend the opening of Cuba’s Embassy in Washington.

"Sarah Stephens is a highly principled leader in U.S. - Cuba relations. She has an uncanny ability to bring people with disparate viewpoints together in a way that results in mutual respect and real progress."
